Adhyan Prasad '21 studies engineering

Adhyan (Adi) Prasad of the Class of 2021 is a senior at Cornell University studying mechanical engineering. After completing his BS this fall, he plans to pursue a Master’s Degree in Robotics. His experience at WFBHS was instrumental in preparing him for college, the nine AP classes including physics, statistics, and chemistry easing his transition to the university. For those interested in pursuing engineering, he highly recommends taking both physics and Project Lead the Way classes. Adi started to work at the Mathnasium Center in WFB during his sophomore year of HS and stays involved with the center as well as continuing to teach as an undergraduate teaching assistant in Cornell Engineering. Joining the Swim Team at WFBHS helped him meet other students and organize his time well, and he strives to create a similar  environment as the men’s captain of the Cornell Club Swim team. Adi speaks highly of the resources available at WFBHS, specifically the counseling department who helped him navigate the college application process and write essays.

Adi has complimented his studies at Cornell with internships and research which have allowed him to apply his knowledge. He has completed two internships, a manufacturing engineering position at ABB in New Berlin, and most recently, a 10 week summer internship at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. He worked on developing a rover prototype from concept to model where he was able to work on mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems. This, complemented with his research experience in developing autonomous drone hardware and coding a simulation to model satellite dynamics, has helped him focus his interest in mechanical engineering to robotics. He continues to explore his interests by taking graduate level courses, such as Design and Control of Haptic Systems. In general, being at Cornell has allowed him to meet a diverse group of people from all over the world and he has been able to visit many cities and other places on the East Coast.

We wish Adi all the best with his studies and look forward to hearing about his future!
