Alum, vet and mailman Mike Boothe ('85) retires

Mike Boothe ('85) is known as "Mailman Mike" in the Riverwest neighborhood where he delivered mail, and joy, for 30 years. He served in the US military before working for the USPS for 30 years. Lisa Alsch, Science teacher at WFB HS says, "Everyday he makes a point to brighten the day of each person he encounters on his route, and he has shared in so many life moments, like when he officiated a wedding for my neighbors. The neighborhood is so sad that he won't be with us daily "delivering joy" and we are celebrating him. We are all adding more signage daily building up to his last day on Saturday, September 23, 2023, when we are shutting down the street and throwing him a party."
He was honored by the City Council on September 19, 2023, an event covered by many news outlet. Read the  Milwaukee's Journal Sentinel article here.
