Bio
Member of the Bay's Class of 1962 and founder of the "Whitefish Bay High School Class of '62 Scholarship" for graduating seniors with average grades, interpreted within reasonable limits. (This is not an award given "regardless of grade point" or for students with stellar grades) Criteria also include evidence of character, a love of learning, and an understanding of the value of their ongoing learning for the greater good as well as for their own lives. This is a niche scholarship for students who are generally marginalized and excluded from scholarship considerations. After teaching at both the high school and principally at the college level for 35 years, I like many other teachers understand that worthy students with potential are not restricted to high grade point achievers. Further, the scholarship is available for such students who wish to pursue careers in the trades as well as professional careers; plumbers, electricians, chefs, carpenters, soldiers, welders, etc make valuable contributions to our nation's well-being as do those in professions. Contributions to the scholarship may be made to the "Whitefish Bay High School Class of '62 Scholarship" at the Greater Milwaukee Foundation which administers the scholarship and where the corpus now resides. Contributions can be made online at GMFs website, or via check with "WFB High School Class of '62 Scholarship" in the memo line and sent to the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, 101 W. Pleasant Street, Set 210, Milwaukee, WI 43212, ATTN: DPS OPERATIONS. (Note GMFs address is subject to change.)
